In the photographer's words - "This is Big Daddy Kane's first LP cover. His concept was to be carried in a litter, by four big slaves. The litter was to be preceded and followed by 16 dancing slave girls throwing flowers.

I asked Kane where I was supposed to shoot this "Cecil B. DeMille production". I told him that this was his first LP cover, he was a handsome lad and we should show his face and in his concept his face would be about 3/8s of an inch on the LP cover. He would hardly be visible.

I refined his concept and created the "Black Caesar" motif that he used throughout his career.
