This Mutt Lange-produced epic was the
band's triumphant signal that they would carry on without founding
member Bon Scott, who'd drunk himself to death in 1980.
The first recording without Scott and featuring new lead vocalist Brian Johnson, it
reached #4 in the U.S. and was the Australian band's first #1 album in
the U.K., featuring the hits "Hell's Bells", "Shoot To Thrill" and
the arena-rock smash "You Shook Me All Night Long".
Back in Black has sold over 42 million units worldwide,
making it the second best-selling album ever and the biggest-selling
album by any rock band. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in March 2003, and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler joined them on
stage during the induction (there's another electrical term!) ceremony
to perform their hits "Highway to Hell" and "You Shook Me All Night
Long".
