Bob Masse’s work titled “David Bowie – Live In Concert” commemorates two successful live concert tours Bowie & Co. embarked on in support of new records highlighting two unique phases of his career – both of which were recorded and then released in his first two live concert LPs.

The 1974 tour supporting the release of Diamond Dogs kicked off 6/14 at the Forum in Montreal, with 7 shows scheduled in Philadelphia, 7/8 – 7/13 (however, the 7/13 matinee was cancelled). The band consisted of Michael Kamen and Mike Garson on keyboards, Earl Slick on guitar, Herbie Flowers on bass, Tony Newman and Pablo Rosario on drums and percussion, David Sanborn and Richard Grando on horns/flute, Geoffrey MacCormack and Gui Andrisano (background vocals – “the Dogs”).

This tour and record documents Bowie during the “Philadelphia Soul”-influenced phase of his career, and so both his band and stage show were put together to reflect his new-found musical interests. The David Live 2-record set features a song list that draws heavily from Ziggy Stardust-era songs (“1984”, “Jean Jeanie”, “Rebel Rebel”, “Changes”, “Alladin Sane”, etc.), along with a cover of "Knock On Wood" and a version of a song that Bowie had presented to his mates in Mott the Hoople - "All the Young Dudes”.

His 1978 World Tour kicked off on 3/29/78 in San Diego and went on for 77 performances in 15 countries – stopping on May 7-8 for shows at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden - with a band that included Carlos Alomar and Adrian Belew on guitars, Sean Mayes and Roger Powell on keyboards, George Murray on bass, Dennis Davis on drums, and Simon House on electric violin. It included a swing through Australia and New Zealand (for the first time) and then ended on December 12 at the Budokan in Japan.

The set list featured music from both Low and Heroes and, based on recorded concerts in Philadelphia, Providence and Boston, a live album from the tour called Stage was released later the same year.

Bob Masse is from Canada's west coast and has been producing concert posters since the 1960s. While attending art school in Vancouver, British Columbia, he began his career doing posters for the folk acts that came through town, in exchange for free drinks, tickets, and the opportunity to meet the musicians.

Bob was greatly influenced by the art and music scenes in Los Angeles and San Francisco, where he spent considerable time in the late 1960s, producing posters and album covers for various bands of the day. His work from this time is highly sought by collectors.

Bob continues to produce pieces for contemporary performers, such as No DoubtThe Dixie Chicks, Pearl Jam, the Smashing Pumpkins, Alanis Morrisette and many others.
