"Joe was obsessed with the history of the Chateau Marmont and the stories behind the famous Hollywood hotel. He knew everything about it, pointing to the rooftop saying 'That was where James Dean was climbing on the roof to sneak in to Marilyn Monroe’s room during a party, and this is where John Belushi died… Let’s shoot by the door.'
He was so sweet –like a little kid – very accommodating and a complete professional. No attitude whatsoever. I was loading film, trying to figure out just where to shoot. I knew that he had to go shoot a video that day with Tim Armstrong, and I was like 'I’m sorry, Joe, I’m trying to hurry!' My hands were shaking and I couldn’t even get a straight shot because I was such a fan of his. Then, he turned to me, smiled, and said 'You can’t rush art, baby.'"
