This design was a collaboration between Karl Ferris and 60's artist Bob Masse. During the summer of 1967, Brian Epstein's Saville Theatre (a former opera theatre, with its boxes were reserved for rock royalty - the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Donovan, Jimi Hendrix, etc. - who would show up to watch other hot acts of the time) was THE place for live music in London.
The 7/2/67 concert was one of the most memorable of The Saville's run, as it was CREAMs first truly psychedelic show. Attempting to out-perform The Jimi Hendrix Experience (who had played at The Saville the previous month), the band members were decked out in psychedelic clothing and Clapton played solos on a variety of guitars that were lowered from the rafters!
Also playing that night were John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and The Jeff Beck Group, featuring Rod Stewart.
