STAND BY ME was co-written by Ben E. King, Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller. It was first recorded by Ben E. King for Atco Records in 1961 and reached the # 4 position on the Billboard Hot 100.

Certified with over 7.5 million broadcast performances by BMI, this song was a Top 20 hit for John Lennon and was recorded by Mickey Gilley for the "Urban Cowboy" Soundtrack.

In 1986, twenty-five years after its initial release, it hit the top of the charts again as the title song for the feature film "Stand By Me."
