Limited-edition (2500) collectible plaque featuring 4 out-take photos taken from the 12/69 photo sessions and a 24K gold-plated LP of the Morrison Hotel record album.
Matted and framed in black metal. A small plate includes another small cover photo print, the item's serial number and the band’s logo. Measures 20"H x 24"W overall -approx. 11lbs. shipping weight. This is an officially-licensed Doors collectable.
The cover photo was shot at LA’s Morrison Hotel (located at 1246 South Hope Street). The band and photographer Henry Diltz (who, incidentally, is now involved in a fine art gallery called “Morrison Hotel”) has asked for permission to shoot at the hotel and were told “no”. Never ones to take “no” for an answer, they all slipped inside and took the photographs anyway. Cover design was by Gary Burden.
Recorded at a time when many major 60’s recording acts were re-discovering their roots, Morrison Hotel (their next-to-last album before 1971’s LA Woman and singer/songwriter Jim Morrison’s untimely death) shows the band at their bluesy, bar-band best. Joining them in their efforts were bluesman Lonnie Mack on bass and John Sebastian (credited as G. Puglese) on harmonica.
