Beginning in 1987, Mr. Clapton was booked into an annual series of concerts at Royal Albert Hall, bringing with him the best back-up artists, in various combinations, along with guest performers of the highest caliber.

The package that this image served as the cover for (along with others by Sir Peter) included performances by his great 4 pc. live ensemble - Clapton, Nathan East on bass, Greg Phillinganes on keyboards and Steve Ferrone on drums (plus Phil Collins on Tambourine on "Sunshine of Your Love!) - a "Blues Band" that included his idol Buddy Guy plus Robert Cray on guitar and Johnnie Johnson on piano, and expanded into a 9 pc. band (with Chuck Leavell on keyboards and Ray Cooper on anything he could bang) backed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra.

A few months after these concerts were recorded, Clapton hit it big with his heartfelt acoustic performance of "Tears in Heaven".
