One of the most successful albums in pop history, this 1971 release from King showcased both her song-writing and performing skills. Already a well-established pop composer (part of NYC's "Brill Building Group", along with Paul Simon, Neil Sedaka and future-husband Gerry Goffin), Tapestry's full range of emotions continue to speak to listeners' hearts 35 years later.

About the photograph, in Jim's own words - "I went to Carole's home on Wonderland Av in Laurel Canyon and sat her on a window ledge in her living room. Having read some ten or fifteen years earlier in a survey by Kodak that the second most photographed subject in amateur photos were cats, I decided to try to get it into my shot.

I noticed one of her cats asleep on a pillow across the room, and asked if she thought it might stay on the pillow if I moved it from the dark side of the room onto the lighted window ledge. She said the cat was very tame and would probably stay on the pillow. I moved the pillow with the cat riding along onto the window seat, and it didn't move a muscle.

By the time I got back to my camera waiting on a tripod, I got only one shot with the cat still curled up, but Carole didn't look great. The second shot I took is the one we used where the cat got up to stretch, and when I took the third one the cat had gotten bored and departed the scene. I probably shot at least 300 photos that day, but everyone in the Art Department who looked at the results the next day agreed there was only one best choice. Well worth my effort!"
