Richie Sambora Deluxe Action Figure kit - another fine McFarlane Toys creation.
This finely-detailed action figure measures 6-3/8" tall at the top of his hat (6-3/4" tall at the tip of his guitar) and is articulated at the wrists. The kit includes guitar and a 3-1/2" x 4-3/8" x 15/16" tall custom stage base.
Richard Stephen "Richie" Sambora (born on July 11, 1959, in Perth Amboy, NJ), is a singer, songwriter and the lead guitarist for the rock band Bon Jovi. Along with his business partner (they’re co-owners of the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football League team) Jon Bon Jovi, he forms the primary songwriting unit for the band. Sambora is one of many guitarists to make use of the talkbox, which was featured prominently in such Bon Jovi songs as “It’s My Life” and “Livin’ On A Prayer”. He also plays many other stringed instruments, plus flute, trumpet, piano and drums (a real one-man band!).
He lives in California and was married to actress Heather Locklear from 1994-2007. They have a daughter Ava Elizabeth and Sambora was also prominently in the press while dating actress Denise Richards, who is a friend of his ex-wife Heather. He is a shareholder of Philadelphia Soul, an Arena Football League football team.
Over the years, Sambora has been an ardent fundraiser for many charities, such as Dream Street, the Steve Young Foundation and Michael J Fox's Parkinson's charity. In May 2004, Sambora was bestowed with an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by Kean University in Union County, New Jersery, where he had attended as a freshman but later dropped out.
The past few years have been banner ones for our boys from New Jersey, with their appearances at Live Earth and Live 8, the release of their fastest-selling records ever (Lost Highway, which debuted at #1, and before that, Have A Nice Day), receiving a Diamond Award for having sold over 100 million records world-wide, a huge world tour which included a sold-out show at Giants Stadium (their 8th) and a somewhat harrowing experience in early 2006 when their jet overshot a runway in Ontario, Canada!
Bon Jovi received another great honor in November 2006 when they were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame (along with James Brown!)
From their debut in 1984 through today, the band has worked hard and smart to build a connection with fans that has made them the powerhouse pop/rock/metal act they are today (“100 Million Bon Jovi Fans Can’t Be Wrong!”, right?). While many bands from the 80s have been relegated to the history books, Bon Jovi's evolution (which now includes country-flavored tunes) has bridged the gaps of generations and musical styles and made them one of the truly best-known names in rock 'n' roll.
