Sculpted in resin by a skilled team of artists, then hand-painted in fine detail, standing approx. 9" high. It is offered in a very limited, numbered edition of 3333 and includes a custom wood display base. This is the second sculpture of Dime in the RockIconz series, and it is an official product licensed by the Darrell Abbott estate.
This edition captures the Pantera guitarist in an 1994-era pose (promoting the band's new record Far Beyond Driven), complete with his "Dean From Hell" ML modified ML guitar, dressed in camouflage shorts and a lot of ink.
The guitarist's family and his girlfriend of 20 years - Rita Haney - were all VERY happy with the finished sculpture, and Rita had this to say to the folks at KnuckleBonz -
“We were all very proud over here in the Dimebag family to learn that KnuckleBonz would be busting out another brilliant piece in the Dime collection. They did such an amazing job in capturing the persona of such an all out, guns blazing, Texas tornado, known to many, as the one and only Dimebag! Watching Dime onstage was always such a one on one experience."
"He had a way of reaching you no matter where you were located in the crowd. With his trademark squeals, to his gut wrenching power grooves… he captured you… he had the magic! After playing his heart out, drenched with sweat, he’d stand there breathless and raise those arms… the crowd would just erupt so thunderously."
"Dime has the most amazing fans and those were amazing moments. I think KnuckleBonz has captured that image with this second sculpture! When I look at it, I can almost hear the crowd! Thank you to everyone for making this possible again! Far Beyond Big Luv! The Bag’z Hag!”
Originally from Dallas, TX, and born (along with his brother, Vinnie Paul, Pantera's drummer) into a musical family (his dad was a country-western artist and producer), Darrell Abbott grew from being one serious KISS fan into one of the 1990's best-known metal guitarists as co-founder of Pantera.
With the release of their major-label debut in 1990 - "Cowboys From Hell", Darrell and his bandmates released one classic metal masterpiece after another until 2000, when the band folded due to (among other reasons) the exit of vocalist Phil Anselmo.
Darrell and Vinnie Paul went on to form Damageplan, which played very much in the Pantera tradition (even playing some Pantera songs during gigs) until December 7, 2004, when a deranged fan jumped on stage during a performance in Columbus, OH and shot Dimebag to death. Fan and critical tributes continue to this day. |
