This 17-1/4" round 2-sided color screen print is one
from a special edition published in 2000 by Firehouse Kustom Rockart
(Donovan/Sperry) for the Virgin Megastores, printed on heavy paper stock and
signed in black pen in the bottom (black) margin by the artists, Ron
Donovan and Chuck Sperry. These promotional posters were folded once for
shipping to the various Virgin Megastores (see photos, below) – otherwise, they
are in mint condition. The front features the promotional imagery, while the
back features a large green apple.

The Anthology series consists of three packages
of Beatles music, interviews and never-before-heard bits – all of which focus
on the history of The Beatles - that were featured in the video documentary,
three record albums and a book of the same name. The original cover imagery was
created by Klaus Voorman, who had designed the famous record cover for Revolver.
The Anthology book included a series of first-person
accounts by the Beatles themselves.
The documentary series, which was made over five years of
planning and production, is composed of numerous film clips and interviews that
present a complete history of the band from the Beatles' own personal
perspectives. Text from many of the interviews featured on-air were included in
the book, along with a host of rarely-seen photos.
The TV Documentary series premiered in the UK
and U.S.
(appeared on ABC 11/19 thru 11/23/1995).
The first CD compilation (Anthology 1) released in late 1995, the 2nd
(Anthology 2) hit stores in March 1996, and the third came out in October,
1996. The 368-page book, published by Chronicle Books, went on sale on October 5, 2000 and went straight to
the top of the New York Times’ best-seller lists.
The Virgin Megastore chain hired artists Ron Donovan and
Chuck Sperry of Firehouse Kustom Rockart to create this special promotional
image to promote the sale of the Anthology book in their stores. Donovan and
Sperry have worked together with their music industry clientele to create an
enormous portfolio of rock music-related imagery, including a number of posters
for the Virgin stores featuring acts such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones,
Fleetwood Mac, U2, Madonna, Pearl Jam and many others.
