Considered by many as the Red Hot Chili Peppers' best album, their 1991 debut on Warner Brothers Records was guided by ace producer Rick Rubin, whose work paid off in spades as the album sold over 7 million copies in the U.S. alone, powered by singles such as “Give It Away”, “Breaking The Girl” and the hugely popular “Under The Bridge”.
“Give It Away” won the 1992 Grammy Award for “Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal” and Blood Sugar Sex Magik placed 310th on Rolling Stone Magazine’s "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" listing.
Formed in LA in 1983, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold over 60 million records (and hold the record for most #1 singles – 11 – on Billboard’s “Modern Rock” chart). In 2006, they released another blockbuster record – Stadium Arcadium – which was nominated for six Grammy Awards, including "Best Album of the Year" – and have sold another 6 million + records, illustrating that they’re still an important and hugely popular part of the modern rock scene.
