Bridges to Babylon
was released in September, 1997 as the follow up to the multi-platinum Voodoo
Lounge album (1994) and, while the recording met with reasonable success - hitting #3 on the U.S. record charts and #6 on the UK charts, powered by the
success of the 4 singles released from the LP - ("Anybody Seen My
Baby", “Flip the Switch”, "Saint of Me" and “Out of Control”),
it was the band’s huge world tour in support of the recording that was the
truly impressive success.
The record would be the last studio album they’d do until
the release of A Bigger Bang almost 8
years later (2005).
