Sugar Mountain – Live at Canterbury House 1968 is a live album (released in November, 2008, 40 years after they were recorded) culled from two shows Young performed on November 9-10, 1968, at Canterbury House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. These performances took place shortly before the release of his first solo album (titled Neil Young, released in late November, 1968).

Critics have commented on just how vulnerable Young sounds during these initial solo outings. He relies a bit, at first, on tunes he recorded with Buffalo Springfield, and precedes many of the tunes with lengthy verbal intros, as if he just wanted to make sure that people realized that these were his songs, based on his feelings and experiences. Truly a most-intimate example of Young in concert.

Part of Young's Archives Performance Series (the third release in the series), the record was released exclusively in a CD/DVD set, with the DVD featuring hi-def audio mastered to be played on regular DVD players.
