The statue is of Ozzy depicted around the time of his Diary of a Madman record and tour. Diary of a Madman was Osbourne's follow-up album to his mega-selling solo debut Blizzard of Ozz and was released in November, 1981 on Jet Records. It was to be the last album recorded with Randy Rhoads before RR's untimely death in March, 1982.

1982 was a year during which Ozzy found himself in the press on an almost-constant basis. In January, 1982, during a performance in Des Moines, IA, Ozzy bit the head off of a (live?) bat that a fan had thrown up on to the stage (which then prompted a series of rabies shots) and, later that year, he was arrested in San Antonio, TX for urinating on a memorial to fallen soldiers at the Alamo. He has since kicked his substance abuse habits and now, when not recording or on tour, he makes very funny commercials for mobile phone companies.
