Released just prior to Van Der Graf Generator's now-revered recording
Pawn Hearts, Hammill's debut solo project provided him with the opportunity to put to vinyl a number of songs he'd written but had not been able to release with his band. These songs were simpler (read "not full-bore symphonic rock" featuring, in many cases, just keyboards and acoustic guitars) and were the first in what turned out to be many songs that would show up in some very-well-received later solo efforts, including 1977's
Over and 1978's
The Future Now.
