In George's words - "I was working for SPIN magazine as the photo editor, and Waits came up on the schedule for a story, so the publisher asked me if I would shoot him again.
For this shoot, Tom wanted to go to Chinatown (NYC). It was in the warmer months, so Tom was wearing a t-shirt. The t-shirt had brown stains on the shoulder and I asked Tom if the stains were blood. 'No,' Tom said, 'My baby was eating chocolate ice cream'.
When we took a break for lunch, we went to a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Tom knew the owner and after lunch we went into the kitchen, where Tom showed his prowess with a wok." | | | |
