This 15"h x 24"w overall (9"h x 22"w image size) digital photographic print is from an edition of 100, signed, titled and numbered by the photographer, Jay Blakesberg.
This picture of John Lee Hooker with Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards was taken 4/11/91 at the Russian Hill Recording Studios in San Francisco, CA, during a recording session for Hooker’s “Mr. Lucky” CD for EMI Records.
This was the same year that Mr. Hooker was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and this CD went on to receive a Grammy Award nomination. With a list of supporting musicians that included Richards, Carlos Santana, Alber t Collins, Nick Lowe, Robert Cray, Johnny Winter and Van Morrison, Mr. Lucky found Mr. Hooker in fine style, his singing and playing top-notch.
Richards collaborated with the blues legend on “Crawlin’ Kingsnake”. He had previously performed with the Rolling Stones in Atlantic City, New Jersey during their Steel Wheels tour in 1989 and went on to be included in the “Blues Legend” portion of the band’s 1995 CD-ROM titled “Voodoo Lounge”.
