Having just completed their year-long, 130 show Voodoo Lounge world-wide concert tour,
the now Wyman-less band released the unique Stripped
live performance record in Nov. 1995 which included songs recorded in
Amsterdam, London, Paris, Tokyo and Lisbon in a mix of venues. Also included in
the Don Was/Glimmer Twins-produced record were songs recorded “live” in the
studio.
Stripped was
well-received by fans and reached #9 on the album charts in both the U.S. and
the U.K., going Platinum in the U.S., fueled by the release of the band’s cool
cover of Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone” as a single.
The record’s playlist included a mix of Stones’ classics,
including “Street Fighting Man”, “Wild Horses”, “Angie”, “Shine a Light” and
“Angie” as well as blues standards by Robert Johnson and Willie Dixon.
