This famous image of the pensive jester was done in 1972. Having been inspired by Maxfield Parish, Mouse airbrushed the character freehand on a piece of raw canvas. At first he left him without a face, but it soon became obvious what was to go there. Shortly thereafter, the Dead were to use the image for the cover of the Songbook.
Please note that the original artwork sold for $10,000 at Bonham's, a well known London auction house, so consider this print a bargain! | | | |
