14 years after the band had formed at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design), 1988’s Naked proved to be their swan song. With Steve Lillywhite producing (no sign of Eno anywhere!), the record was fairly well-received by fans and critics, as it had the quartet in fine form on songs that spanned a wide range of styles, from funky dance music to African-influenced “world music”.

The Talking Heads were one of the most-unique bands to emerge from the NY/CBGBs club scene in the mid-1970s, with their charismatic (and seemingly wide-shouldered) front man David Byrne leading the charge with a unique singing style and stage presense. After signing with Sire Records, the band went on to international success and, ultimately, placed four of their records in Rolling Stone Magazine’s "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time", including my favorite, the soundtrack to the excellent 1984 documentary by J. Demme, Stop Making Sense.
