Well, what more can you say about the best-selling album of all time? It took less than a year from its November 1982 release (on Epic Records) for Thriller to achieve that status and has since sold - hold on to your white gloves - over 110 MILLION copies world-wide (with over 28 million copies sold in the U.S. alone, and still sells over 100K copies/year). The music videos produced to promote three singles from the record - "Thriller", "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" - all became iconic examples of music video craftsmanship.
The record also went on to win numerous awards, including a record-setting 8 Grammy Awards, 8 American Music Awards and three MTV Music Video Awards, and the album was ranked #20 in Rolling Stone Magazine's 2003 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
CA-based artist/portrait photographer Dick Zimmerman shot the cover for Thriller and has shot portraits of many other music/film/TV celebrities, including Billy Idol, Chick Corea, George Carlin, Edgar Winter and Tom Jones.
