Rock music-related fine art gallery relocates to Portland, OR.
Press Contact - Michael Goldstein, owner, RockPoP Gallery
RockPoP Gallery, an online gallery showcasing an amazing collection of rock music-related fine art prints, photographs, and collectibles, recently relocated its operations from Long Island, NY to a new home in Portland, OR. Gallery owner Mike Goldstein had been eager to return to the West Coast after nearly 12 years in the NY area, and after an exhaustive, 4-year-long search, found Portland to be the most desirable place to move his business (and his family).
"Portland is a city of great beauty and has been a cultural hub and incubator of new talent in the music and art worlds for a number of years, so it made the selection of where to relocate our business very easy. Many of the artists and publishers we work with are located on the West Coast as well, and with international shipping made easy and safe by the major carriers, we are confident that we're going to be able to continue offering the same level of attention and service we're now well-known for", says Goldstein.
Goldstein will continue to curate exhibitions of album cover-related artwork in galleries and other public spaces beginning in 2009. A schedule of events will be posted on the gallery's web site (www.rockpopgallery.com) and on its "Cover Stories" blog (www.rockpopgallery.typepad.com).

About the Collection, Exhibition and
Sale:
Working to create a unique fund-raising effort to help celebrate Retna’s 30th anniversary as one of the world’s largest independent photo agencies, Retna, RockPoP Gallery and the New York Chapter of The Recording Academy teamed to host an event at The B.B. King Blues Club and Grill in New York City’s Times Square on July 9, 2008. 30 of Retna’s legendary roster of photographers were approached to create framed presentations of 30 of their best-known music industry-related images and, as a result, the Retna 30th Anniversary Collection was born.
The 30 special-edition prints of many of the music industry's best known and loved artists, including Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, Bob Dylan, Queen, Coldplay, Amy Winehouse, Queen Latifah, The White Stripes, The Ramones, Led Zeppelin (and many others) were photographed by some of the world's most-respected photographers, including Richard E. Aaron, Janette Beckman, Nat Finkelstein, Walter McBride, Ernie Panicciolo, Mick Rock, Baron Wolman, Steven Perrault (the 2008 winner of Retna’s “Next Great Live Shooter” competition) and many others.
The collection was offered for sale for the first time at the July 9 event, and 12 of the 30 prints were sold at that time. The remaining 18 have been put on display in a special section of the RockPoP Gallery website, which can be found at http://rockpopgallery.com/items/retna-collection/list.htm.
(The White Stripes by Phil Mucci; Queen by Mick Rock; Amy Winehouse by Brooke Nipar)
100% of the net proceeds from these sales will be donated, so not only will purchasers own a great work of fine art photography, they'll also be supporting the NY Chapter of the Academy’s excellent advocacy, education and professional development programs.
The sale will continue online through
December 31, 2008.
